Why we exist

1 in 2 women cannot make autonomous decisions about their sexual & reproductive health*

Across the world, patriarchal systems of power, enforced through restrictive laws, cultural stigma, and harmful narratives, deny women, girls, and gender-diverse people the right to their own bodies. Sexual negativism, disinformation, and stigma silence open conversations and restrict access to trusted information. These forces sustain gender inequality, block autonomy, and hold back social and economic advancement.

Reproductive injustice harms not only individuals but entire societies and economies, making it a critical barrier to sustainable social and economic development. When women and girls are denied autonomy, we all lose.

Consequences

  • Girls drop out of school and are denied education opportunities.
  • Women's economic independence stalls or regresses
  • Whole economies suffer from reduced participation, productivity, and innovation
  • Communities experience ongoing cycles of marginalization and exclusion

Denying women and girls this basic freedom is one of the greatest injustices of our time.
